AI for fitness clubs: attendance, equipment use and retention
A club chain knows how many memberships it sold, but not when the gym is packed or which machines sit unused. We measure this on your existing cameras and predict which members are about to leave.
Typical tasks
- 01Visitor counting
Cameras count people at the entrance and in each zone by hour. You see real occupancy and plan trainers and cleaning around peak hours. We built this for a fitness club chain.
- 02Equipment heatmap
The system shows which machines are always busy and which stand idle. Equipment purchases and layout are planned on data.
- 03Churn prediction
The model analyses visits, freezes and purchases in your club CRM. It lists members who are likely not to renew. A manager calls them in advance.
- 04Lifetime value prediction
The model estimates which members bring the most over time. Marketing sees which channels bring people who stay longest.
- 05Face access and timesheets
Members and staff enter by face, with no cards. Trainer hours go straight into the timesheet. Biometrics are used only with consent, and a card option always remains.
- 06Morning report for the chain
Every morning a Telegram summary arrives: visits, peak hours, new and lost members for each club.
Data and access requirements
- Biometrics are special category data under GDPR: explicit written consent, a non-biometric option and templates stored inside your perimeter.
- There are no cameras in locker rooms or showers, ever: analytics run only in training areas and at the entrance.
- Integration with your club CRM and access control system through API or the turnstile controller.
- We use existing cameras over RTSP or ONVIF and do not identify people for counting.

Questions
Do we need new cameras in the gym?
Usually not. We connect to existing cameras and check whether they see the right zones. If an area is not covered, we suggest where to add a camera so the heatmap is complete.
How is churn predicted?
The model learns from your club history: how often members who left used to come, compared with those who renewed. The forecast is not perfect, AI sometimes errs. So it is a call list for managers, not automatic action.
Is face access legal?
Under GDPR it needs explicit consent and a real alternative. We provide a consent template and help with the DPIA, and your lawyer approves the final text. Biometric templates stay inside your perimeter. Without consent, members use a card or QR code.
What does it cost for a club chain?
From $5,000 for a turnkey project. The price depends on clubs, cameras and CRM integrations. You get a fixed estimate 2-3 days after discovery.
